Domaine Romain Pertuzot Pommard 1er Cru 'Les Epenots ' 2021

"Les Épenots" is one of the most prestigious vineyards in the Pommard appellation, located in the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. This vineyard is renowned for producing Pinot Noir red wines of exceptional finesse and complexity.

The "Les Épenots" vineyard is divided into two main parcels: "Les Petits Épenots" and "Les Grands Épenots." These vineyards are situated north of the village of Pommard, at the base of the Côte d’Or escarpment. The soil is primarily composed of clay and limestone, providing excellent drainage and contributing to the distinctive minerality of the wines.

Tom's tasting notes:
Bright crimson, nicely lifted red fruits, red currant, red licorice, hint of ferrous ironstone, nice lick of new oak.

The palate is quite fine with graphite tannins and a flush of red fruits through the mid palate. It builds with air and the finer Pommard tannins come out, its quite firm at the close and will reward extended cellaring. 2028-2040
