Serrat Pinot Noir 2021
This wine is from the old block of MV6 Pinot Noir planted in 2001 (about 80%), plus a 20% proportion of newer plantings of 848, MV6 and Pommard clone. We added about 30% whole bunch in the ferments in 2021, which has given the wine quite a punchy and fragrant aroma, that evolves nicely as the wine sits in the glass. It was aged in a 228 litre barrique and a 500 litre French oak puncheon that was one year old, on lees for 11 months.
The bouquet is dominated by the darker cherry and a plummy hint coupled with red fruit spectrum, strawberry, raspberry, spice, cherry, with detailed fragrance and floral notes.
The palate is tightly wound with some serious tannic intensity underneath a silky and voluminous mouthfeel. Serious extract and density.
